Luckless Douglass

Luckless Douglass

Douggy Bollinger has bowled extremely well however lady luck has robbed him of his first Test scalp thus far. A wicket has just got to be round the corner for the left arm swinger, he’s certainly earnt it.

Here’s a few excerpts of the trouble that Doug has caused the Saffa batsmen thus far:

1.4 Bollinger to McKenzie, no run, short of a length and it beats the bat and thuds into McKenzie’s midriff
3.1 Bollinger to Smith, FOUR, oh well bowled, thats a nasty short ball that spits up and draws a thick outside edge off the shoulder of a squared-up Smith’s bat, except it flies over gully
3.3 Bollinger to Smith, FOUR, ah, another thick edge! Bollinger pitches the ball up and lures Smith forward, defending with a thick edge that drops in front of Hayden and beats his out stuck right hand
7.5 Bollinger to McKenzie, 1 run, much fuller and an inside edge sneaks off the pads to the on side
13.1 Bollinger to Amla, no run, welcomed with a bouncer, 140ks, and he flinches
13.2 Bollinger to Amla, no run, steep bouncer into Amla, who moves across and takes it on the shoulder of the bat, looking to nudge it towards square leg, Bollinger asks for a close catcher
32.5 Bollinger to Kallis, no run, big shout for lbw as Bollinger pitches short well outside leg stump and strikes Kallis on the flap when he misses the pull shot, he is confident but Bowden shakes his head, clearly hit outside the line of impact and had pitched outside leg stump
56.5 Bollinger to Amla, OUT, oh superb fielding! Amla again tucks the ball towards midwicket and de Villiers calls for the sharp single, Johnson runs after it from mid-on and nails a direct hit, a stunning throw
AB de Villiers run out 11 (70m 52b 1×4 0×6) SR: 21.15
58.3 Bollinger to Duminy, no run, whats wrong with that shot? Bollinger slips in a full, swinging delivery to Duminy that slants back in, he goes for the flick and misses and they all go up in appeal, Billy Bowden shakes his head and replays show the ball may have taken out leg stump … meanwhile Ponting is interested in the two noises and goes up for the catch at second slip … while that cannot be given out, the shout for appeal was tight
60.1 Bollinger to Boucher, no run, a loose shot from Boucher, driving at a full one away from the body and missing very narrowly
60.6 Bollinger to Boucher, no run, top stuff from Bollinger, slipping one in a fraction wider to get Boucher pushing down the wrong line and that so narrowly misses taking an outside edge
84.5 Bollinger to Morkel, 2 leg byes, a bouncer now, which Morkel goes to pull but he takes his eyes off it and the ball clips his helmet and runs wide of backward point and they scamper leg byes
86.1 Bollinger to Morkel, FOUR, a loose drive outside the off stump, away from the body, results in a thick outside edge that flies between third slip and gully
86.6 Bollinger to Morkel, 1 run, that sneaks past a leaden-footed drive and foxes Haddin behind the stumps, it pitched on a good length to lure Morkel forward but then didn’t bounce much, narrowly missing off
88.1 Bollinger to Boucher, no run, chases a full one in the zone but inside-edges back onto his boot
88.2 Bollinger to Boucher, no run, an utterly miscued pull shot from Boucher, who reaches out to a short one well outside off stump but toe-ends it flat down the track wide of the nonstriker
92.3 Bollinger to Boucher, 1 run, thats streaky, Boucher pushing at shortish one and getting an inside edge back past his pads and down to square leg
92.5 Bollinger to Morkel, no run, pitches on a length to lure Morkel forward on a leaden-footed drive, the ball takes the under edge but doesn’t carry to Haddin and so Bollinger remains luckless
92.6 Bollinger to Morkel, no run, a big shout but still no luck for Bollinger, pitches full and swings back in to hit Morkel on the front pad as he strides forward to try and on-drive the ball, its a good shout from all but not convincing enough for Billy Bowden, there were two noises and it may have missed leg stump
94.3 Bollinger to Morkel, no run, pitches full and hits the pad down leg stump, another luckless appeal from Bollinger, the ball would have missed the mark reckons Billy Bowden
