Harwood to Hartley

Here’s one for AB DeVilliers, just to let him know we show our own batsmen the same compassion that he received after what JC describes as

[Tait's] third ball thwacked into AB de Villier’s midriff. Doubled over in pain, de Villiers’ bat crashed into the stumps. As he crumpled to the ground in agony, the Australians clustered next to his quivering body, high fiving and celebrating. I think I may have seen Cameron White kick de Villiers in the ribs a few times while noone was looking. It was a moment that would’ve brought a tear to Jeff Thomson’s eye.

For me the highlight was the Victorian keeper Adam Croswaithe running up to the stumps for the sole purpose of clapping the bowler right in front of the batsmen. The bowler returns to his runup without so much as checking the fallen batsmen for a pulse. Actually, the slo-mo Chewbacca sounds are pretty cool too.

At least Hartley had the forethought to keel over away from his stumps. Good boy.

I found this promo footage of Eddie Perfect’s new musical – Shane Warne.

I have to say I was more likely to watch it prior to seeing this clip, then again I’ve never been to a musical before and this is gaining good reviews so I suppose it’s a good one to see, when it comes to a real city. Eddie Perfect comes across as a bit of a knob, perhaps it’s a theatre thing..

Here’s a short highlights package where the 22 year old Warner takes two quality International Twenty20 bowlers in Shaun Tait and Sohail Tanvir.

I’m getting very excited by the prospect of seeing David Warner take on Steyn and Morkel come Sunday night, hopefully this bástardised version of cricket lives up to excitement from the Test Series.

Oh, and reformed chucker Johan Botha’s been named captain of the Saffas. One must wonder wtf Boucher did to piss off the hierachy…

First of all, let me start my saying that Mitchell Johnson was a shít bowler when he was a Queenslander. Now that he’s a Western Australian however, he’s freaking awesome, and it’s ok to have “movement at the station” when he bowls a particularly good spell.

Such as the one he just bowled. Genuine pace, swing, smarts, and a boner south of the equator. One of the best spells I’ve ever seen. Here’s some quotes from the cricinfo coverage:

6.55 pm: Ten overs ago, South Africa were cruising on 234 for 3 with de Villiers and Kallis batting with ease. They were picking off the singles, hitting the bad balls for four, and gradually reducing the distance to Australia’s total of 375. Then Ricky Ponting threw the ball to Johnson and everything changed.

Johnson’s last spell today was 5 overs, 2 maidens, 5/5. His overall figures are 7/42! He’ll open with the first over tomorrow morning, and with Steyn on strike and Boucher at the non-strikers end, he’s odds on to improve on these already amazing figures. Here’s some footage of the wickets so far

He’s given Australia a superb advantage in this game, we’re looking at a solid 100+ first innings lead when an hour ago South Africa would have thought they’d be taking a lead.

Mind you, in the pub 90 minutes ago and some bloke said “Saffas are 3/180, we were 3/15″. My reply: “at least our tail can bat”

Ellyse Perry Highlights and Interview

Ellyse Perry is just 18 years old and finished high school this year. She also represents Australia in both Soccer and much more importantly Cricket.

Here’s some highlights of her in the T20 game that was a curtain raiser to an Aussie Mens match a the MCG in front of 90,000 fans. What I like the most about Elysse is that she makes England look shíthouse. Completely and utterly shíthouse. Top effort.

If you want to go all snag then stay in bloody Melbourne with the other nancy Victorians. Can you imagine had Lillie or Thomson started bawling after making a breakthrough? I think not.

Maori Haka vs Aboriginal War Cry

You’d be forgiven for not knowing that there’s a Rugby League World Cup on at the moment, as it’s a pretty crap sport and they’re not showing it live on TV!

Anyways, there was an exhibition game between an Australian Indidenous team and a NZ Maori team. The players are all pretty young as the good ones are playing in the RLWC proper, however the footage here is from the war cry’s to open their match.

Pretty intense and as far as replies to the Haka go it’s better than waltzing matilda!
