Sonny Bill’s rugby future

Some good points raised by the dropkicks on the whole $BW saga, and not the usual league press drivel that we get subjected to even on Australian Rugby Union sites (you know who you are!).

If SBW’s intention is to play French rugby and make a truckload of money, he’s going to come up trumps. Perhaps he should have thought about this before he signed a 5 year deal at the dogies, but who really cares about Cantebury.

I can’t see the French giving a toss about what some Aussie court say, after all they blow up boats in allied harbours, test Nukes in tropical paradise then don’t evacuate the locals when the wind changes, and sold a Nuclear reactor to Sadaam.

Sure if it were a criminal act they might extradite but it’s not like he’d be facing gaol for walking out on his employer. What is likely however is SBW being refused entry to work (or play) in Australia, at the least for the remaining 4 years on his contract.

Without entry to Australia he would find playing Super 14 somewhat troublesome. In the current climate this would exclude him from All Black selection, assuming that he’s even good enough to get selected for the AB’s, and they believe he’d honour any contract they sign with him.

  1. Ah yes, the Bulldogs.

Do they ban rapists for dodgy stuff for 4 years? Of course not.

Shame the pub that John Timu worked for in Dunedin in 1994 never took out such an injunction.

The Maori word for this is utu
