Greg Growden’s back to his old tricks. I had led myself to believe he’d toned it down since Knuckles refused to answer questions from ‘the fat one’ at last years Rugby World Cup, but that’s probably cause I avoid anything with pie-man’s by line on it these days.

What could possibly be his motivation for writing off the Welsh captain and star winger 3 days before we play Wales for a clean sweep of the Northern Hemisphere?

Giteau was not even the best in the position he played, let alone the best player in the world. This is not our fight, leave it to the kiwi’s to explain how McCaw was robbed and lets get on with our preparaton for a clean sweep.

One of my many complaints about the pie-man when I wrote the bone growden petition was:

His ramblings consistently give opposition teams motivation to step up against the Wallabies

and in this context it’s fair to say he’s back to champagne form. The Welsh are understandably upset that some Aussie hack has called into question the credentials of Shane Williams who I believe to be the most exciting backline player in the last 12 months, and a deserving winner of the IRB player of the year award. Besides, McCaw was offside for 11 of the last 12 months.

  2. As a welsh man (and writer of the post that link goes to!) I obviously love that Shane won it. there are other worthy winners, indeed I would have picked McCaw. But I think Shane was easily high enough to be at the point where it is a matter of opinion rather than him not belonging. As a current pack member and ex-flanker i recognise that McCaw is amazing, especially the way he gets away with what he does (like every good 7 should)

    however all season Shane has been our best player creating tries from nothing vs Ireland, France, Scotland and SA.

    I have no problem if other people think others should win it, hell I do as well. But it is all taste. When others suggest that Shane isn’t worthy thats when we get annoyed.

    As a side note the WRU put up emails from fans who email certain people there up on the changing room walls. Many of these emails now include excerpts from that news article. You definately have a point about giving motivation to the opposition!

  3. You should definately have a word with him…. Shane had been having a poor series till that game. This time around he was awesome popping up everywhere.

  4. The IRB Player of the Year had a poor series? Makes one wonder how they judge it hey… perhaps it should be called IRB try of the year
