Dear Channel 9

Dear Channel Nine,

Please tell Mark Nicholas to piss off to England and never come back. In his place you may hire Shane Warne, who unlike Nicholas played cricket for his country, and actually comes across like he knows what he’s talking about.

Regards

    A bit harsh!

  2. Moses says:

How much of the pretentiuos Hampshirian tosser have you had to sit through? His ‘commentary’ involves sucking up to whoever is on the screen at the time.

I’d be quite happy for him to show up on SkySports, but he’s got no link to Australia whatsoever. He’s never played here, and is certainly not commentary team captain material

  3. Cricket Bats says:

I sat through several summers of his commentary on Channel 4!

Don’t get me wrong they don’t come much more irritating than MN.

My comment was made because he wasn’t a bad cricketer and was unluckly not to play for England (many muppets were selected a head of him!)and he does know what he is talking about he just rambles on about such bollox.

  4. Moses says:

Fair point I guess, however there are plenty of fair cricketers around.. in fact there’s many Australian ones who’d do a fair job of hosting the coverage.

Then there’s the highest wicket taker of all time, who’s ability to read the modern game, in my opinion, is without peer.

He’s played in Australia, and in fact every other country. He’s played 3 forms of the game and doesn’t feel the need to constantly prove his knowledge.

Whats-more he has developed a very diplomatic approach, it can’t be easy commentating with the England captains club but I reckon Warney’s excelled in the UK this Ashes.

  5. Cricket Bats says:

Moses I can’t argue with any of that.

I guess his style is “quintessentially english” but you can’t blame him for that, only channel 9!

  6. Rugby League Fitness says:

warne? please god no *slits wrist*.

But he would be an improvement in watch-ability.

Nicholas is probably cheaper and doesn’t a require a hair care budget like warne.
    :)

  7. Cricket Bats says:

I would not be so sure that MN doesn’t require a hair care budget, he fancies himself as a prtetty boy with his pink shirts. :)

  8. The Binocular says:

    A bit harsh.

But Shane Warne is much more of an interesting character.

More seriously what do Australia do about Mike Hussey?

  9. Cricket Bats says:

Has Mike Hussey not earned himself a stay of execution now. I think they have no choice but to pick him for the next series.

  10. Moses says:

I don’t think so, he’s averaged under 30 in his last 20 tests, and while that would get a batsman into the English side I feel we need to set our standards higher

  11. Cricket Bats says:

Ok, so he has had a rough patch but he still averages 52.65 in Test matches despite it all.

Surely he desrves a little loyalty?

  12. Thomas Rooney says:

As an England fan, I am quite happy to have Warne doing our commentary over Nicholas thanks very much! Like you say, he never did anything much as a player, so what gives him the right to be so smug?

Top site by the way, would appreciate an email if possible from you. Something I would like to discuss.

If we have him back we can bung him into a remake of a 70s sitcom

Guys whilst I think we have been over critical of MN. I would certainly not be in favour of swapping SW for NM! Channel 9 are welcome to him!
