Here’s a short highlights package where the 22 year old Warner takes two quality International Twenty20 bowlers in Shaun Tait and Sohail Tanvir.
I’m getting very excited by the prospect of seeing David Warner take on Steyn and Morkel come Sunday night, hopefully this bástardised version of cricket lives up to excitement from the Test Series.
Oh, and reformed chucker Johan Botha’s been named captain of the Saffas. One must wonder wtf Boucher did to piss off the hierachy…
Blimey Mark Waugh looks a tad stiff, lossen up matey!
Hopefully Warner can hit the ball from the MCH to the SCG, now that would be funny
Yeah, glad to see Junior’s got himself a gig…
Am still pondering how useful Warner’s two-sided bat can actually be ( except for sledging purposes – ‘need two sides do you mate… I was good enough with just one…’ etc etc)
Dave, Where’s the MCH?
TOB, he used that double sided thing for a few overs then swapped it for a real bat. I’m sure he still took the endorsement cash though..
Like the look of that – christ knows we need it!
Can’t wait to see him in IPL:)
First saw Warner just before Xmas in the 291 run tie at Bellerive. He scored 97 from 54 balls and when he departed, trapped in front by a Xavier Doherty dart, NSW were 125 off 16 overs. I think dominant doesn’t do the innings justice. I know I was bloody relieved when he was given the finger otherwise the Blues would have chased down what looked like a winning total within 35 overs.
SWaugh once said that Gilchrist might score an ODI double hundred (would of scored a triple if he batted the 50 in the last World Cup final). Well Nesta reckons Warner will score a double in an ODI and hopes that it is in the 2011 World Cup decider.
Good selection in a summer of questionable ones. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s match. Should be a ripper!
Firstly, nesta, the LBW you refer to was a disgraceful decision, robbing him of the fastest Domestic hundered ever. Struck his front foot outside the line to a ball going a long way down leg.
Anyway, we saw the emergence of a new superstar last night. Let’s hope he keeps it up. (and that he is drafted into the ODI team ASAP)
well spotted Mosey… ‘karn Aussies… whitewash 20′s and ODI’s will go some way to stemming the ugliness that is ponting’s shitty captaincy and our impotent bowling…
As much as I’d like to take credit for Warner’s demise at Bellerive Tim, I doubt me yelling from the hill, “Carn Tassie, get this little prick out” was why he received such a rough decision. Cheers mate and I concur with your thoughts about ODI selection.
Nesta, sorry – I came off quite heavy there…. I’m just annoyed as I bowl orthos but never get wickets like that!
No worries Tim. Perhaps you just need move south to get a fair go. Tassie fielded three finger spinners in the Big Bash tonight, one opening the bowling (Doherty), one taking the most wickets (Krezja)and the other (Marsh) bowling at the death. Their figures combined were 12-0-75-6 and they were the reason (along with some big hitting in the first 10 overs) that Tasmania once again humbled the not-so-mighty Blues.
Yeah, I watched it – was good to see Xavier use his flight to deceive in a T20 rather than just bowl darts – in saying that tho we don’t get decks like that in Sydney….maybe they should have a drop in at Waverley oval too….might turn a bit.
Esp liked the wicked of D Smith – classic ortho’s dismissal in limited overs. (The fact I got him out the same way a couple of years ago made it even sweeter)
And Krezja, well – he can bowl – made Thornley look like an amateur….hang on….that’s not hard!
